I have a very exciting announcement to make! As of May 2021, we have officially donated more than ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to Surfers Against Sewage, who are busy protecting our seas!

Swimming through plastic, and seeing such limited political progress around the climate crisis, can be really disheartening. There is always so much more to be done. But today reminds me that when we all do a little bit, we can make a big difference. Small donations add up to big ones – and they keep growing.
I felt very emotional making the payment that took our donation total over £1000. I celebrated with a sea swim – and I also wanted to celebrate with you all here. Because this wouldn’t have happened without you.
Every time you’ve bought something from us, you’ve helped us donate to organisations making a positive difference to the planet, and especially to our seas.
Making a difference – the first small steps
When I started Sea Soul Blessings, I wanted to help people to build a deeper connection with the sea. At the end of 2019, I committed to making Sea Soul Blessings plastic-free, and started to donate 10% from every sale (even when we barely make a profit) so that we could play an active part in protecting our seas.
Surfers Against Sewage aren’t the only environmental cause that we’ve supported through Sea Soul Blessings, but they’re the one that we’ve supported most often. Not just via donations, but by sharing their work with you all here, joining beach cleans, and being a part of Plastic Free Penzance.
About Surfers Against Sewage
Surfers Against Sewage started in Cornwall, where I live with my husband, a life-long Cornish surfer who can remember the earliest days of SAS (not just the legendary clifftop SAS balls, dressed as jellyfish, dancing through the night that I remember…!).
At first, SAS was surfers campaigning for less sewage in the sea. They were successful (though there is always still work to be done there, as recent sewage spills in our local bay have shown us this month…).
But SAS has grown far beyond that. Their work is as much about inspiring the next generation (like my kids), campaigning at a government level to make vital policy changes, and tackling plastic pollution. As well as encouraging everyone to participate in protecting our seas with brilliant projects like the #millionmileclean, coming to a beach near you soon…!
It’s so good to have something to celebrate.
