Mindfulness, self compassion, and “Blue Health”.

One to one Sea Soul Retreats are a rare chance to take time out for yourself, and reconnect to the water – in awe-inspiring surroundings.

Embracing the pause as progress, together we’ll soak up the “Blue health” benefits of being by the sea – for mind, body and soul.

  • Space to reflect, and appreciate the many benefits of time in nature.
  • Precious time to be heard, held, and guided by the ocean.
  • Support to develop your own self compassion and mindfulness practices.
  • Transformative guidance to facilitate the changes you want to make in your life.

Time spent in and around the sea is also proven to soothe your nervous system, reducing pain and anxiety. It boosts your mood, shifting you into a more meditative state in which deeper transformation is possible.

You’ll leave your Sea Soul Retreat knowing your next steps, and feeling more connected to yourself and to the sea.

“I had a wonderful afternoon, your space holding and company was wonderful and I felt gently held every step of the way. Your love of the water is infectious!” Hayley

Guided by the sea – Sea Soul Blessings and Sea Soul Journeys Oracle Cards

Some of the tools we’ll use in our time together will be Sea Soul Blessings and The Sea Soul Journeys Oracle Cards. These are simple mindful cards inspired by the ocean that prompt deeper reflection.

Used regularly, they can facilitate a powerful practice of compassion, connection and inner exploration.

Reflecting on each day’s message can deepen our connection to the sea, shift unhelpful thoughts, and help us to enact positive change in our lives. You can find out what other people think about these cards here.

“Thank you so much for such a gloriously wonderful day. What an incredible experience. You are such a gentle, compassionate facilitator. It was a day of many magical metaphors, deep emotional shifting, releasing and opening. Thoroughly divine.” Jane

Deep Sea Soul Session

Deep Sea Soul Session (60 minutes)

£80

What do we do in a Deep Sea Soul Session?

We’ll meet by the sea, and start our time together with a short meditation and mindfulness exercise to ground and inspire you. This will be followed by a Sea Soul Session card reading. This experience is an extended version of our Sea Soul Session online offering – one that allows us to connect to the ocean more deeply.

You’ll also get a little taste of a Sea Soul or Blue Health coaching session – a chance to explore and identify some small steps that can help you to move forward beyond the session; and/or some activities you might like to explore on the beach after our session.

The Deep Sea Soul Session ends with a short self compassion practice for you to take away and immediately apply to life on land, along with a mini set of 5 Sea Soul Blessings cards.

Individual Sea Soul Retreats in Cornwall – half day or full day

Whether you choose to treat yourself to a half day or a full day retreat, I’ll shape your individual Sea Soul Retreat in Cornwall in response to your current needs and desires. In our time together, you’ll receive my individual attention, intuitively exploring how best to support you, adapting our programme as your needs and insights evolve, and connecting us to the sea’s wisdom in whatever way serves you best.

Designing your individual retreat programme

Before we meet, I’ll send you a short questionnaire, designed to start the process of your retreat and help you to explore what you’d most like to get from the experience. Your answers will allow me to start creating a unique programme for you.

Like the Deep Sea Soul Session, each Sea Soul Retreat starts with a gentle meditation by the water, followed by an intuitive Sea Soul Session reading to frame our time together.

We’ll choose three or more Sea Soul Blessings cards as guidance from the sea, and explore what these might mean for you right now – using what we discover to shape the rest of our time together.

For the rest of our session, we’ll explore a tailored selection of beach and ocean-inspired activities designed to support and nurture you – sometimes walking along the coast, sometimes finding a soothing spot to settle.

Sometimes, our time together might simply be about holding space to be with the sea – shared quiet can be the most powerful healing. It might also include any of the following activities – you get to choose what feels most nurturing and empowering:

  • A Sea Soul or Blue Health coaching session – space to explore where you are, where you want to be, any blocks or challenges on that path, and any big dreams you’d love to move towards; and guidance to make a plan to take your next steps towards that
  • Guided meditation and breathing exercises
  • Self compassion practices
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Sea-inspired rituals
  • Creative activities
  • Visioning
  • Journaling
  • Movement and flow
  • Paddling, stepping into the sea, swimming, snorkel adventures (see below)
  • Coastal walks

While I swim in the sea regularly, I’m not a lifeguard or swim coach, so if you’d like to include a one to one swimming lesson, or lifeguard cover for anything more than a shared paddle (or a dip at your own risk), I can also arrange for a lovely swimming instructor to join us as part of the retreat at additional cost – just let me know when you book.

And for an extra ocean adventure – if you’d like to explore the submerged forests and underwater worlds of this stretch of the South West coastal path, I can arrange for the wonderful Katie Maggs of Tonic of the Sea, a British Sub Aqua Club qualified Snorkel Instructor, to join us for a snorkelling experience along the way (at additional cost).

“Thank you so much for a lovely day. It flowed beautifully and was very insightful. I would recommend your retreat to everyone.” Emma

About your host

I’m Pippa Best of Sea Soul Blessings. I live with my family in Penzance, Cornwall.

Time in and around the sea has transformed my life in every way – physically, mentally and spiritually. And now, my greatest joy lies in creating and sharing simple tools and practices that ripple out the ocean’s gifts to others.

In 2018, I created the first Sea Soul Blessings cards and book to share the sea’s wisdom. In 2022, my Sea Soul Journeys Oracle Cards were published internationally by Welbeck.

I’m an ICF accredited Blue Health Coach and trained life coach. I’ve been creating and hosting group coaching programmes, retreats and transformative experiences here in Cornwall in the far west of the UK (and online) for the last 10 years, having worked as a mentor and writing consultant for many years before that. I still work as a writer and editor, and I’m in the third year of hosting my popular online membership, The Sea Circle, that brings the gifts of the sea to those you need it via email, mail, and online retreats.

As a passionate sea swimmer (and keen wonky synchro swimmer with Out of Sink…!) I care deeply about protecting the sea and the natural world that so inspires and sustains us. So as well as being a plastic-free business, I donate 10% of all sales made here – including Sea Soul Retreats – to environmental causes.

Where will my sea soul retreat take place?

Most often, we’ll be walking (and pausing to create, connect, reflect and explore) along the newly refurbished path from Penzance to Marazion…

This is a path that starts off feeling quite enclosed and industrial. It runs close to the train station, humming with busy engines and linear train tracks. But soon, you glimpse the magic of St Michael’s Mount silhouetted in the distance above the sea walls – there’s a sense of adventure and mystery on the horizon, especially in the morning haze.

A few steps more and the sea slowly opens up to your right, tempting you onwards.

For a little while, you continue with a foot in both worlds:

On the left, that busy directive predictable part of your mind is reflected by the clanking train tracks and passing trains on your left.

While on the right, all the possibilities of “blue mind” thinking begin to flow as your view of the sea expands – fluidity, expansiveness, creativity, calm and curiosity…

There’s a delicious sense of anticipation until you can head down onto the beach, bringing yourself close to the water.

Looking back at the harbour, you can hold a gentle awareness of life beyond this space. But leave all the noise behind to focus on your own needs, values and dreams – and become fully immersed in the ocean’s magic.

Here, soothed by the water, grounding into mindfulness, connecting to that sense of oneness that we find in the sea, and deepening self-compassion, you can connect to the ocean within.

Becoming curious about where you are now, what the sea can teach you, and new ways of moving onwards, you can open to a fresh way of seeing the world and your life. And leave feeling inspired and refreshed.

I love how this stretch of coast path walks us gently into our blue minds on every level… making it the perfect spot to host individual sea soul journeys.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Sea Soul Retreats in Cornwall are generally hosted outside by the sea near Penzance.

To soak up as much of that beach and ocean “blue mind” magic as we can, we’ll choose our retreat time based on the tides and predicted weather.

In general, we’re up for retreating in all weathers – as Billy Connolly says, it’s all about having the right clothes…! And appreciating all that the natural world has to offer.

Having said that, we also have access to a lovely light indoor space with a sea view that we can use if we need sanctuary – or if you would prefer to retreat indoors.

If you require easy access to the beach, we can arrange to meet you at Long Rock where there is direct access to the beach; or at the start of the recently renovated Penzance to Marazion coastal path which is a flat path that runs along the sea.

How do I book?

Environmental benefits

As with all Sea Soul Blessings purchases, 10% of your purchase price will be donated to environmental causes. So when you take time by the sea to tend to yourself, you’ll also be tending to the sea.
